On July 7 2011, the new extension of the Drents Museum in Assen, the Netherlands, was formally delivered after rebuilding it for over 2 years. The museum became too small for the ambitions it has with creating large exhibitions and a rapidly growing public. Therefore, a new impressive underground exhibition hall and a renovation of the old buildings were realized by Erick van Egeraat and his team. The architect can be proud of this special project “It may not be one of my major projects, but it definitely is one of the most beautiful ones”.
In November of this year, the museum will be open to the public again. It then will open with an exposition about Chinese Tang-dynasty.
