During the annual Dutch Construction Industry Day on June 5th 2010, 280 construction and infrastructural projects will be opened to the public. Amongst them is Design Erick van Egeraat’s ‘Vlindertuin’ (‘Butterfly garden’), a residential project in Apeldoorn. Vlindertuin consists of 202 new row houses that are currently under construction in the Zuidbroek area.
Situated in a undulating landscape the houses are divided into three groups consisting of 83, 70 and 49 residential units. Although the houses look similar, they differ in orientation and design. Black brick and white stucco facades, with large glass panels, provide for a contemporary appearance. Completion of the project is scheduled for the 2nd quarter of 2011.
The Day of the Construction Industry offers a unique chance to visit the participating construction sites and to gain information about the projects currently under construction. This is the fifth consecutive year that the Day of the Construction Industry is being held in the Netherlands. In 2009 some 115,000 people visited the projects.
