The first stage of the ambitious re-development and partial reconstruction of the Pauliner University Church site, Café Felsche, opened its doors to the public. Café Felsche is a semi-separate mixed-use volume with commercial spaces, a café, a medical centre and, on the top floors, student boarding apartments. Construction of the main building and auditorium is ongoing, and execution works on the aula interior space have commenced. The Aula with Vestry, a contemporary interpretation of the former University Church, is a multifunctional space and will be used – like the original church – for church services as well as for academic ceremonies, concerts and scientific conferences.
