Erick van Egeraat’s Waste to Energy Plant in Roskilde, Denmark has been pre-selected as a finalist in the Architizer A+ Awards for the Plus Categories | Architecture + Light: category. With this waste-to-energy Incineration Line, the city of Roskilde in Denmark has a second towering landmark, besides the UNESCO world heritage Cathedral.
The plant incinerates waste, from nine surrounding municipalities and from abroad, to produce electricity and heating for households in the Roskilde Region. Due to its large scale and outstanding design with light installation, the incinerator is destined to become an outstanding structure in the wide and open landscape of the Roskilde area.
The project competes for the two most sought-after awards: the Architizer A+ Award and the Architizer A+ Popular Choice Award. While the Architizer A+ Jury Award is selected by jury, the public chooses the Architizer A+ Popular Choice Award online. A + Public voting started, March 17th and ends April 3rd.
