Design Erick van Egeraat is one of the candidates for the Cossack Museum in Volgograd (Russian Federation). Six architects from different European Countries countries were invited to participate in a competition for the new museum building.
Our concept of the building is defined by the key components of Cossack’s life: flexibility and freedom in time and space, and the ability to live in perfect harmony with the surrounding nature. The museum with the public area, cosycozy pedestrian space and surrounding park is connected to nearby synagogue and benefits from the vibe of this lively part of the city.
“A modern museum has to be something bigger than just a place to store art and organize exhibits. That is why we tried to make it a mechanism organizing urban life and a very attractive public space. A new museum is a great opportunity to animate urban life. Something I believe Volgograd needs!”, Erick van Erick Egeraat said at the final presentation of the plans in Rome, where he made a good impression with his unique ‘wooden’ architectural statement. It will take some months before the organizers will make their choice.
