Mercury Tower
Moscow, Russian Federation

Mercury Tower is one of the latest additions to the Moscow International Business Centre, the most important development project of the Moscow area in the last decade. It is a multi-functional skyscraper, the tallest building in Europe between 2012 -2014, and features offices, luxury apartments as well as recreation and retail facilities on a total of more than 70 floors. The Mercury Tower was designed by the American architect Frank Williams (1936-2010), and the Russian architect M.M. Posokhin. During construction, Erick van Egeraat was assigned to assist to finish the design work and to elaborate a range of interior spaces. Erick van Egeraat’s subdued but powerful design for the interiors of the public spaces, offices and apartments of one of Europe’s tallest buildings is made to bring the kind of style and elegance such a classical skyscraper deserves.

The interior design of the retail area, main entrance lobby and all public spaces of the office and apartment levels feature high quality materials like travertine, mirror polished stainless steel, backlit onyx walls and ceilings. Materials are used in a modest, but visually strong and appealing way, accentuating the architecture of the tower. High quality craftsmanship and insight in the contractor’s work are necessary to properly execute such a project, where details are extremely important.

At present Erick van Egeraat is elaborating the interior design for a number of apartments, an art gallery on the 4th floor, and for the World Fashion Café that will be located on the ground floor. These will further activate both the tower and the wider Moscow City district. The apartments will bring a new concept to Moscow: compact, yet very high quality units, completely fit out with the best materials and furniture, and benefitting from a very complete service level including floral-, laundry- and catering services as well as car-wash, housekeeping and guest apartments. These apartments will be perfect for the urban professional that has a very demanding travelling schedule, and that expects not the biggest, but definitely the best.

Design Erick van Egeraat focuses on the long lasting quality of the design, familiar to the level of Russian architecture in the past, but in a fully contemporary manner and with the typical design touch of Erick van Egeraat.
