Ichthushof
Rotterdam, Netherlands

Following the design and construction of the four buildings that comprise the masterplan of the site, created by Erick van Egeraat, the landscape design of the central inner courtyard, the Ichthushof, was completed in 2011. The Ichthushof is situated in the Kop van Zuid area of Rotterdam, The Netherlands. In addition to the INHolland University of Applied Sciences, the site comprises of offices, residential and commercial space.

The landscape design of the central inner courtyard is a harmonious spacious composition connecting the existing and new buildings of the mixed urban network. Besides the potential of the site, it is the quality of the design of the heart of this masterplan area which attracts the occupants of the individual buildings. The roof of the metro that runs through the landscape is no longer an obstacle, but an attractive vegetated and accessible element which enables fluid connections in the area. A rich variety of plants and trees are alternated with paved paths and areas to create a quiet and natural area amidst the office buildings, school and the harbour.
