Mixed-use Gelderlandplein
Amsterdam, Netherlands

The mixed use project Gelderlandplein-Noord is located within Buitenveldert, an area around green public spaces and structured by water in Amsterdam. The program consists of a multifunctional centre (MFC), housing, outdoor areas and parking. The design offers a wide range of housing typologies in three differentiated buildings. They react to the existing orthogonal structure and frame the entrance to the square in front of the MFC, the new heart of Buitenveldert. The housing volumes have external façades of natural stone and glass forming a face to the surrounding urban fabric. The softer wooden internal elevation faces an enclosed volume, which takes the form of a horizontally oriented landscape with curving grass rooflines.
