Housing Neringweg
Lelystad, Netherlands

The spatial configuration is made up by a mix of the requested program and a the specific interpretation of the site. Requested: approx. 60 houses of different typology with parking and iconic quality because of its position being the first structure to be prominently seen when getting close to the centre of Lelystad. In a more regular – building-block like – configuration double the amount of the requested housing would fit easily. This fact was combined with the presence of a lowered strip of water with a sloping side towards the site. This section was extend into a sloping wooden deck which grows into a ‘wall’ of housing ending the (semi-) public space. For the deck area several studies were made to in the end come to three more villa-like fingers containing shops and housing.
